Happy Sunday! Thanks for checking out the online resources for this Sunday. Here you will find a video lesson as well as some activities to do as a family.
Elementary
Determination: deciding it's worth it to finish what you started.
Key Truth: God gives you what you need to keep going!
Memory Verse: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9)
1. Watch the video https://vimeo.com/showcase/7173665. Select Elementary or 4th-5th can watch the Preteen video.
2. Read the story from the Bible: Acts 8:26-40 Philip and the Ethiopian man
3. Lesson Activity: Make a hopscotch course and draw "?" in a few of the boxes. Roll a die and hop the number of spaces. Read a question if they land on a "?". o Who appeared to Philip while he was telling people about Jesus? (an angel of the Lord)
o What did the angel tell Philip to do? (to leave and go to the desert road that led to Gaza)
o Who did Philip meet while he was traveling on the desert road? (an Ethiopian ocial)
o What was the man doing? (he had traveled to worship God in the temple and was trying to read
Scripture)
o What did God tell Philip to do? (go to the chariot)
o What did Philip do after he realized the Ethiopian ocial needed help understanding the
Scripture? (he told the man about Jesus)
o What did the Ethiopian ocial decide to do after learning all about Jesus? (he got baptized)
o What happened to Philip after the man was baptized? (God’s Spirit took him away so he
could continue telling people about Jesus)
4. Use this prayer as a guide: “Dear God, it’s so cool to know that we can keep going even when we have questions.
If there’s something we don’t understand, we can ask—just like the Ethiopian ocial
did in the story. Thank You that no question is too big or too small for You. Thank You
for always being with us—even when we can’t see the full picture of what’s happening
in our life. Help us trust You no matter what. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
5. 3rd-5th graders download the devotional below.
